It is time to treat the system!
Jeremy J. Karpen, MA, LPC
Jeremy is a Licensed Professional Counselor currently working as a Therapist for troubled youth at a residential treatment center in Chicago. In addition, Jeremy volunteers his time as a Partner Abuse Intervention Facilitator at a local domestic violence agency. He serves as the Chair of the Second City Green Party, a Local Affiliate to the Illinois Green Party that operates primarily in Logan Square.
Raised in a working class family in Minnesota, Jeremy received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Philosophy, and Legal Studies from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota and his Master's in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Throughout his graduate studies, he served as Co-Chair of The Chicago School's Social Justice Group and supported himself working as a photographic technician in a local lab. An anti-violence counselor, he is currently a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network, an Associate member of the Illinois Psychological Association, and an Affiliate Member of the American Psychological Association currently withholding dues in protest of the APA's position on psychologists' involvement in government sponsored coercive interrogation and torture.
Jeremy spends much of his free time working locally as an activist on issues of healthcare, non-violence, gender issues, political access, and affordable housing. As a self-described clinician-politician, Jeremy believes we need to treat the system, not simply its effects.
